About

Gene Aiden Johnson, MD

Gene Aidan Johnson, M.D. joined Kellis Eye & Laser Center in August 2009. An Army veteran originally from Massillon, Ohio, Dr. Johnson specializes in general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and oculoplastic surgery. Utilizing the latest research, Dr. Johnson provides care to his patients in his office and in the operating room. His special interests include:

  • Facial rejuvenation concentrating on the peri-ocular region including blepharoplasty (removal of the extra skin and bulges of the upper and lower eyelids)
  • Correction of ptosis or raising an eyelid that has fallen
  • Correction of eyelid malpositions due to the natural aging process or trauma
  • The diagnosis, treatment and/or reconstruction of skin cancers involving the face and especially the eyelids
  • Botox injections and laser resurfacing for medical and cosmetic purposes.

After his residency, Dr. Johnson completed his fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with Dr. Augustine Kellis. Special emphasis was placed on the use of the CO2 laser for not just resurfacing but for complete incisional work. The use of laser technology has greatly decreased the operative time for patients and accelerates the healing process. In 2009, Dr. Johnson received the Case Western Reserve University Professionalism in Ophthalmology Award. Dr. Johnson is board certified in Ophthalmology and in 2012, was elected a Fellow of The American Academy of Ophthalmology.
