As an independent practice, the multi- disciplinary team of healthcare professionals at Precision Orthopaedic Specialties offers a highly collaborative and comprehensive hybrid of care.
Founded in 1996, it has remained at the forefront of breakthrough technologies and advanced surgical techniques.
From toddlers and teens to seniors, professional athletes to weekend warriors, the group covers the entire gamut of orthopaedic problems with field leading orthopaedic surgeons, non-operative sports medicine physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers. The group collaborates closely to treat the musculoskeletal system via a progressive spectrum of surgical and non-surgical methods.
Right Here Under One Roof“We strive to make the evaluation and treatment process as convenient as possible for our patients. We have incorporated the latest technology in multiple areas, including X-ray and MRI, into our locations in Chardon, Auburn, and Middlefield,” says Dr. Gregory Sarkisian, president of the practice. “We do it all right here under one roof. Our patients do not need to drive all over town to multiple appointments for testing or to see a different specialist.” According to Dr. Michael Kellis, “Over the past 25 years, we’ve always put our patients first and have experienced continual growth, expanding our locations and services. Along the way, we’ve created ways to make the best level of care easy to obtain. It’s uncommon to find this many specialists who are experts in their fields working together under one roof.”
Team members include Gregory C. Sarkisian, DO; Michael J. Kellis, DO; Mark J. Mendeszoon, DPM; Laszlo S. Harmat, DO; Kraig K. Solak, DO; Albert S. M. Dunn, DO; George J. Kellis, MD; Jamie DelVecchio, DO; and Brian Filisky, DC.
The group’s broad range of services includes outpatient joint replacement, podiatry, spine surgery, hand surgery, physical therapy, sports medicine, chiropractic care, hyaluronic acid (HA) lubricant injections, natural joint supplements, and strength training.
Over the years, the physicians and staff have led the way locally and nationally in their respective fields.
An example of one of their initiatives is when they founded the Precision Concussion Institute to assist with concussion diagnosis and management
and help ensure that athletes are safe to return to competition. Dr. Michael Kellis, who founded the group’s sports medicine department, states that the group is heavily involved with numerous local high schools, donating its time and expertise in the support of athletic programs.
Same-Day Joint Replacement Whereas the team strives to take a conservative path of treatment, postponing or avoiding surgery when it can, in some cases, surgical joint replacement for knees, hips, shoulders and ankles is the best strategy for joints that are not functioning properly. The good news is, the advances in joint replacements have come so far that, in many cases, they can be performed on a same-day, outpatient basis. In fact, healthy and motivated patients who undergo knee or hip replacement can be up and walking within three hours of the surgery.
Dr. Kellis says that with the myriad of treatment options now possible, he hopes people who are suffering don’t put off seeing them.
“No matter what your age, you should be able to engage in a full range of activity and movement, free from pain or limitations,” he says.
