Freeze the Fat Away

When CoolSculpting was introducedin 2010, it took non-surgical body contouring to the next level.

Based on cryolipolysis—the term for destroying fat cells by freezing them—the FDA-cleared technology took the medical arena by storm. Ideal for Both Men and Women

“No matter how much you diet or exercise, most of us have those nagging, resistant areas of fat that don’t seem to respond,” says Lori. “We’re treating a lot of men and women with this method to reduce those areas.”

During the 35-minute CoolSculpting Elite treatment, patients relax on a spa bed. An area of fat is gently drawn into a hand- held device, where it is cooled. Patients report the procedure feels chilly and a little numb. Afterward, there’s little to no downtime.

Significant Advances in Targeting Fat

“The advancements between traditional CoolSculpting and CoolSculpting Elite are significant,” says Medical Clinician Kathy Fiocco-Schwab. “The hand-held applicator design has been refined with a C-cup shape to curve around the body’s surface. This allows for more suction, more even cooling and additional contact with tissue. We can work on several areas during one treatment since we have two machines, each with two applicators.”

She explains they now target fat better, addressing bothersome isolated areas like bra fat, upper arms, chubby areas around the distal thigh, “muffin top” around the waist, “banana roll” in the buttocks, the jawline and double chin, and larger areas such as the stomach and back.

The bottom line? If you can squeeze it, they can freeze it.

Kathy reports the results are dramatic and long-lasting. Most patients report seeing results in as little as four weeks after their first treatment, and the results emerge fully at 12 to 18 weeks.

“Once the fat is gone, it’s gone. Fat cells cannot regrow,” says Kathy. “A longitudinal study evaluating how long fat-freezing results last followed patients over the span of nearly a decade and found that the reduction in fat was still visible, despite fluctuations in weight, among the subjects.”
